Layout on a Sheet
How many items fit on a sheet as they are and turned by 90°, the fill of the sheet and the waste.
As it is: 4 pcs (2×2)Turned by 90°: 3 pcs (3×1)
- filled: items
- hatching: waste, margins and gaps
- thick frame: the better layout

How it is calculated
Along each side: the count = the whole part of (sheet size − 2 × margin + gap) ÷ (item size + gap). The count on the sheet = across × down.
The same is worked out for the item turned by 90°, and the larger count is taken. Fill = count × item area ÷ sheet area.
nx = floor((W − 2m + g) / (w + g)) ny = floor((H − 2m + g) / (h + g)) fill = nx·ny·w·h / (W·H)
Worked example
Sheet 450 × 320 mm, item 150 × 110 mm, gap 3 mm, margin 10 mm.
As it is: across floor(433 ÷ 153) = 2, down floor(303 ÷ 113) = 2 → 4 pcs. Turned: 3 × 1 = 3 pcs. Fill = 4 × 150 × 110 ÷ (450 × 320) = 45.8%.
An estimate: a plain rectangular grid, without mixed layouts, overlaps and technical marks.
